Sally Ride Returns to Earth
Ride is a former astronaut and the first American woman to reach outer space. Ride was a nationally-ranked tennis player in high school before attending Stanford University for her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. In 1983, Ride took part in her first space shuttle mission, serving as a crewmember on board the Challenger. The International Olympic Committee Is Founded
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, that was founded by Pierre de Coubertin with the aim of reinstating the ancient Olympic Games that were held in Greece (776 BCE–393 CE). Cuyahoga River Catches Fire
