Although I will give him the benefit of the doubt until he gets into trouble in Cincy, the evidence isn't good.

I just heard an interview with Kirk Herbstreit on The Herd on ESPN, and he didn't have anything good to say about Kirkpatrick's attitude. Herbstreit has called many SEC games over the past few years, and quite a few 'Bama games, so his opinion is based on what he's seen not what he's heard.

He explained that Saban had to keep his thumb on Kirkpatrick to attend meetings, stay focused, and play hard. This type of player has killed the Bengals over the past decade.

Oh, and the "weed isn't mine" statement doesn't wash. Sure, his boy might have actually bought it, but Kirkpatrick was smoking it -- the tests show that.

I'm a big "character" guy and Kirkpatrick's scares me at this moment.

I still say this is being blown out of perportion. He was a collage kid that smoked some weed. There are very few people out there that can say they never did the same. Give him a chance to grow up when it matters. I got busted for weed about 3 weeks before going to boot camp but never once failed a drug screen in the army. Oh and since when does espn report anything in a logical way.

once agian this is a time when you will just keep saying you are right no matter what anyone say. All I am saying is give the kid a chance but I am getting out of this before this becomes another drawn out thing that gets nowhere

What I find more problematic is his character when it comes to work ethic. Reports aren't good. When you have to be convinced to attend meetings, hit the weight room, etc. it's just not a good sign that you'll have a successful NFL career. Now, you never know, maybe it will not be an issue. I'm just saying the evidence isn't good at this time.

Look, at the end of the day....I hope the kid puts it together....but man.....why should we have to have this kind of concern at #17 of the first round?

It wasn't an absolute must pick & it just signals to everybody that things haven't changed in Cincinnati when it comes to putting a priority on character.

If I had $100 for every draft pick that said he would straighten up in predraft interviews....I could pay for a nice house with cash.

I just don't understand why a 9-7 team with an excellent d-cordinator with a top 10 defense felt like they had to take a risk.

That said.....I hope the guy is a shut down corner and never has any more issues. History says he's got an uphill battle.

The first thing I would require is a hair cut.
